Hardware Setup and Documentation

Unpack computer and document the following information so it can be tracked in the future. An example Dell system is shown and this information is available from the labels on the computer case. Keep written records stapled to Micro Base Station Checklists (Download) for entire shipments at a time.

Plug in, connect all components, and turn on the system. Place sticker the of the Ethernet port and the USB Ethernet Adapter: the stock port should be labeled "Internet Connection" while the USB Ethernet Adapter adds the second Ethernet network should be labeled "Idrive Wireless". The USB Ethernet Adapter should be permanently 2 sided taped to the case. The internet feed should be connected to the "Internet Connection" port, not the "Idrive Wireless" port.

Software Setup

Set BIOS to Turn On Automatically:

• Turn the computer on.
• While the computer is booting, repeatedly tap F2 to enter the BIOS menu
• Navigate to Power Management\AC Recovery
  • Set it to Power On
• Navigate to Power Management\Auto On Time
• Set it 04:00 AM, Every Day
• Apply and Exit

Set Bios to ignore Errors and Warnings:

• Set to Ignore Errors and Warnings

Windows 10 Initial Setup:

MIGHT BE OUT OF ORDER

• Change Windows 10 Privacy Settings
  • Do not click the big "Use Express Settings" button!
  • Click Customize Settings
  • Turn every single option off
• System Identification
  • Your work owns the computer
  • Choose local domain
  • Set the user name to "Idriveadm"
  • Set the password to "111111" with hint "six 1's"
• Opt out of everything possible

Show hidden icons in the Taskbar:

• Right click on the taskbar in the bottom right, select Settings
• Click "Select which icons appear on the taskbar"
• Turn on "Always show all icons in the notification area"

Set User Account Control (UAC):

• Set track to “Never Notify” ( This is so the Idrive Transfer Tool will automatically start)

Right click and select Pin to Taskbar

Disable Dell Digital Delivery Service

Click on the services Icon on the Taskbar

Stop the Service

Internet Connection:

Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center\Change Adapter Settings

• Verify internet connectivity
• Should be set to automatically get its network addresses (DHCP). This should be good by default.
• Right-click and rename the connection “Internet Connection” (There should be two connections, one connected and one unplugged. This step is for the connected one.)

Idrive Wireless Connection: USB Ethernet Adapter

1. Plug in the USB Ethernet Adapter and install the drivers (Note: there is no CD or DVD ROM on the Micro Base Station Download Point, so you may wish to find them on the web and save them or transfer them from the DVD and save them in the WIKI (as a link) or on a USB storage. Also here is the link for zipped Startech USB Ethernet Adapter files (made by ASIX) Idrive Downloads
2. After the drivers are installed and the Ethernet adapter is functioning then make sure to two sided tape it.
3. Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center\Change Adapter Settings

• Right-click and rename the connection “Idrive Wireless Connection” (There should be one connection, for the internet until you plug in the USB Ethernet Adapter and install the drivers. This step is for the unplugged one.)

• Right-click on the Idrive Wireless Connection and select properties, select “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)”, select properties
• Set up the IP address to 192.168.0.10
• Network mask 255.255.0.0
• Default Gateway should be blank
• DNS servers should be blank and NOT automatic

Disk Partitions/Raid configuration:

Taskbar

This Icon and feature is not provided in the Micro Base Station Download Points as it has a single HDD and is not mirrored for data protection.

Note: Events are temporarily stored on the Micro Base Station Download Point only until sync (every 12-15 minutes). After the Sync, the downloaded events are copied to the Amazon bucket server and then transferred to the Target Point Base Station as set up in the AC.

Insert the Base Station USB stick:

Copy all files to the desktop, then safely eject and remove. The following files should be on the USB stick:

• idrive.cert

• winbox.exe

• Logo 1 (registered).png

• (Microsoft SQL 2012)

• Compressed Install Files for the latest Idrive Control Center (Idrive_server_3_6_6_live as of 12/13/18)

Move winbox.exe to C:\

Install ViewPRO and AV player:

Run the install file from the folder you copied from the USB, you do not have to extract.

• Defaults for all questions
• Delete the shortcut to ViewPRO, but leave the shortcut to AV player

Install Microsoft SQL server 2012R2:

Run the install file from folder you copied from the USB, you do not have to extract.

• Click on “New Installation”
• Defaults for all questions EXCEPT for “Database Engine Configuration”. Set it to “Mixed Mode” and idrive2# for the password.

Set Idrive Logo as Background:

• Right-click Logo 1.png and select "Set as Background"

Set Idrive Logo as Screensaver:

• Move Logo 1.png to the pictures library (Start\Pictures)
• Delete the Sample Pictures folder
• Right-click the desktop
• Select Personalize
• Go to Screen Saver
• In the dropdown, select Photos
• Apply and Save

Install Acrobat Reader:

• Uncheck install google toolbar/chrome etc.
• Click Download
• Select Run

Install VLC Media Player:

• Save to Desktop
• Right-click and run the installer as administrator
• Defaults for all questions

Install Teamviewer:

• http://www.teamviewer.com/en/download
• Click Previous Versions and find the latest version 11.x
• Save to Desktop
• Right-click and run the installer as administrator
• Select checkboxes for Install For Remote Connection and Personal/Non-Commercial Use
• Accept license agreement
• Select Start Automatically with Windows (might be default now)
• Create a strong password and confirm it (format #Idr79p for example, and keep it to be entered in the Idrive Admin Center)
• Record the ID number that pops up
• The application will launch
• Go to Extras\Options\Security
• Set Windows logon to Allowed for administrators only

Setup Windows Media Player:

• Click Start, search for "windows media player", and open Windows Media Player
• Complete default/recommended setup

Install Dell Updates:

• Click start and search "upd" to find Dell Client System Update
• Search for and install any updates
• NOTE: there is a link to Windows Update in the top right

Restart Computer

Force Windows 10 Creator Updates:

• Click start, search "wu", and press enter to open Windows Update
• Search for and install any updates

• Force by:

CMD (as administrator) wuauclt.exe /updatenow

Unpin apps in start menu:

Do this after Windows Update which installs new apps that should be removed

• Click the Windows icon in the bottom left
• Right click and select unpin to all apps which might pose a distraction
• The only apps that you really should leave are Microsoft Edge and any Dell support apps

Uninstall Game apps in start menu:

Do this after Windows Update which installs new apps that should be removed

• Click the Windows icon in the bottom left
• Right click app and select uninstall, uninstall all apps which might pose a distraction

Examples: Bubble, Candy Crush, March of, Solitaire, Minecraft, Etc.

Turn off Suggested Apps:

Settings > Personalization > Start > Occasionally show suggested to Off

Set "Warn me before Installing Apps":

Type "Settings" in search and click it

Specific to Customer

Wireless Infrastructure

Base station orders are usually paired with access points (APs). An AP provides the wireless infrastructure that allows X series cameras to communicate with the base station via WiFi. An AP includes one of each of the following:

• RB Groove unit
• 35' FTP (foiled twisted pair) Cable
• 24V PoE (power over ethernet) Adapter

The sales item "Base station with wireless infrastructure" that you might see on a quote includes 1 base station computer and 1 AP. Any additional APs required for an order will have their own line item. Please see the corresponding wiki page for basic RB Groove configuration.

IMPORTANT: Multiple APs

By default, an RB Groove unit will be programmed to communicate with the IP Address 192.168.0.7. If more than one AP will be present at a single location, each Groove will need a unique IP Address in the range 192.168.0.XXX. Typically we iterate up from -0.7 with -0.8, -0.9, etc. Please note that -0.1 and -0.2 are very common (and probably exist already in the customer's wireless infrastructure) and should not be used unless requested.

Changing the IP of a Groove is done through the Winbox application. See the RB Groove Configuration page for setup info.

• Login to the AP via Winbox and navigate to IP\Addresses
• Simply edit 192.168.0.7 to the desired address, save, and exit
• Reconnect with the new IP to test.

Country Code

If an AP is to be exported to a foreign country, you will need to change the frequency list of the RB Groove. Please see the corresponding section of the wiki guide for RB Groove configuration.

More Setup

Set Customer’s Time Zone:

• Click the clock in the bottom right
• Select Change date and time settings...
• Select Change time zone...
• Use the drop down to select the appropriate option

Note: this is very important to be correct, because with all current Base Station we are allowing the BIOS to restart a machine that has been powered down. having the wrong time zone could make the 4:00AM auto start very late if the time and time zone is incorrect

Add Client to Partner List in Teamviewer:

• Open Teamviewer
• Log in on the right side panel (Talk to Mark if you need an account)
• Click the drop down that has the icon of a person with a plus sign
• Select Add remote computer
• Enter in the Teamviewer ID and password specific to the base station you are working with
• Set Alias to <Customer Name - Location Name - DP> (DP for Download Point)
• Select Pending Activation in the Group drop down

Install Idrive Control Center:

Run the install file from the folder you copied from the USB, you do not have to extract.

• Before this can be run to conclusion you will require a Validation Serial Number (License). This is generated in the Idrive Admin Center.
• Find the new location in the Admin Center
• Enter the license number when prompted

IMPORTANT

1. Sign into the Control Center using the email address "support@idrive.pro" and password idrive2#

Do not accept the Idrive license agreement

1. Click on Fleet Manager and Personnel
2. Select the Admin User and click the edit tab
3. Delete the Admin User

- There is no reason to have anyone sign in at the Micro Base Station Download Point as all the users will be operating the main Base Station Target Point

- The client can make any administrative changes on the Micro Base Station Download Point through their admin account at the main Base Station Target Point

Then go to Settings>Admin Settings

1. Set the Auto Delete to 60 days and save

- Because the events are uploaded to the Amazon server and transferred to the Base Station Target Point there is no reason to keep copies on this station.

- 60 days is simply a fail-safe in case the Internet is out and the DP cannot send them to the TP before being deleted

Create a Shipping Form:

Download template here.

• Enter the customer name and address under Ship To
• Enter contact name and email
• Adjust shipped items appropriately
• Enter computer information and RB Groove MACs (if applicable) in the box at the bottom
• Save at \\IDR1\Users\Idrive_support\Support\Shipping\Base Stations with name <Customer Name - Location Name>
• Print 2 paper copies for shipping and a PDF version for billing

Update Location in Admin Center:

• Find (or create) the location in Admin Center, make sure it has "DP" (download point) somewhere in the name
• Click Edit Location
• In the comments box, enter the computer Service Tag, ESC, Windows Code, Serials, and RB Groove MACs
• In the Remote Access fields, enter the Teamviewer ID and password
• Check the "Is a Download Point" box

Transfer Ownership of the System to the Customer:

Allow Teamviewer and Control Center through Windows Firewall:

• Click Start and search for "firewall" to find Allow a program through Windows Firewall
• You may have to click Change Settings at the top
• Make sure that both boxes are checked for the 2 Teamviewer programs
• Make sure that both boxes are checked for the 3 Idrive Control Center programs
• Click Allow another program
• Click Browse...
• Direct to C:\Program Files (x86)\idrive
• Select the idriveControlCenter application
• Allow it from the list and check both boxes for it

Shutdown, Disconnect, and Repackage the Computer:

• Make sure access points and additional hardware are with or in the box
• Print the Idrive Micro Base Station Target Point Installation Guide and place it inside the box Micro BS DP
• Print the Client Weekly Maintenance Routine and place it inside the box Weekly Mntc
• Both can be found on this wiki under Customer Guides and in the Support folder on the network
• Label all boxes with customer and location names, as well as the RB Groove boxes with IP addresses.
• Give all materials to shipping

Attach the Antenna to the Bullet prior to powering on the unit!

The Ubiquity BulletHP2 is receives its power over the shielded ethernet cable (POE).

Plug a regular cat5 cable from the ”Idrive Wireless Connection” network port of the computer into the Lan port of the POE injector.

Plug the “FTP” (Foil Wrapped Twisted Pair) cable from the POE port of the Power injector to the NanoStation.

Plug in the POE adaptor into a wall outlet.

Verify there are lights on the unit.

Keep in mind the Bullet is out and Mikrotik is in!

The factory default IP address for the Bullet is 192.168.1.20 . The idrive wireless connection interface subnet must be changed to for the initial configuration of the NanoStation

Log out and then back in back into the router with the new user / password to verify

Test download from a unit.

NanoStation M5 Wireless Bridge Setup

The NanoStationM5 (NS5)is functionally similar to the NanoStation2 (NS2) but works in the 5.8GHz frequency range (802.11a) where as the NS2 works in the 2.4GHz range. Usually there are fewer nodes in the 5.8GHz range so it is implied that better stronger connections can be created using the 5.8GHz spectrum. This configuration is for creating a wireless bridge where on NS5 connects to a remote NS5 wirelessly when a wired connection cannot be used.

If you are using this setup you will be configuring 2 NS5 devices as a Pair.

• Network>Set the Default Gateway to 192.168.0.1 (for Both ends of the Bridge)

• Network> Primary DNS Server: Leave Blank

Click Change

• Start>Control Panel>Network and Internet>Network and Sharing Center>Change adaptor settings,

• Set up the IP address to 192.168.0.10

• Save the settings

• No Setting(for Base Station side of the Bridge)

• MAC address for AP end of the bridge (for Far end of the Bridge where downloads occur)(this can be viewed under the Main Tab or on the box)

• Wireless> Country Code: (Default is USA)

• Wireless> IEEE 802.11 Mode: A/N Mixed

• Wireless> Output Power: 17DBM, check “Obey Regulatory Power” (not allowed?)

• Wireless> 20Mhz width

• Wireless> No Channel Switching

Click Change

Click Apply Changes
