Plug in, connect all components, and turn on the system. Place stickers by each of the ethernet ports: the stock port should be labeled "Internet Connection" while the auxiliary bay that houses the extra network card (typically on the bottom) should be labeled "Idrive Wireless". The internet feed should be connected to the "Internet Connection" port, not the "Idrive Wireless" port.

Wireless Infrastructure

Base station orders are usually paired with access points (APs). An AP provides the wireless infrastructure that allows X series cameras to communicate with the base station via WiFi. An AP includes one of each of the following:

  • RB Groove unit
  • 35' FTP (foiled twisted pair) Cable
  • 15V PoE (power over ethernet) Adapter

The sales item "Base station with wireless infrastructure" that you might see on a quote includes 1 base station computer and 1 AP. Any additional APs required for an order will have their own line item. Please see the corresponding wiki page for basic RB Groove configuration.

IMPORTANT: Multiple APs

By default, an RB Groove unit will be programmed to communicate with the IP Address 192.168.0.7. If more than one AP will be present at a single location, each Groove will need a unique IP Address in the range 192.168.0.XXX. Typically we iterate up from -0.7 with -0.8, -0.9, etc. Please note that -0.1 and -0.2 are very common (and probably exist already in the customer's wireless infrastructure) and should not be used unless requested.

Changing the IP of a Groove is done through the Winbox application. See the RB Groove Configuration page for setup info.

  • Login to the AP via Winbox and navigate to IP\Addresses
  • Simply edit 192.168.0.7 to the desired address, save, and exit
  • Reconnect with the new IP to test.
Country Code

If an AP is to be exported to a foreign country, you will need to change the frequency list of the RB Groove. Please see the corresponding section of the wiki guide for RB Groove configuration.

More Setup

Add New Location to Admin Center:

If the base station is intended for a new location for an existing customer, skip the first set of bullets. If the customer is new to us, you may need to activate the customer via the sales section of the AC.

  • Open AC, click the "Sales" tab at the top of the page.
  • Search for the customer name. This will search through all documented prospects, leads, etc.
  • Find their page and scroll down. Click "Make Client Operational".

This adds the customer to the support section of the AC. From here,

  • Click the "Support" tab at the top of the AC.
  • Search for the customer
  • On the left side of the customer page, click the button labeled "Add location & product key".
  • Name the location and set the Region Group Host (right hand side) to "us-east-1". Click "Add location and create product key". Set Status to Hidden Until SYNC. Click GPS location self populate
    • NOTE: Any info entered into a location can be edited later, but only tier 2 support can delete locations.
  • Notify tier 2 support ( tier2support@idriveglobal.com )about the new location.

Update Location in Admin Center:
  • You will need 1 RB Groove unit from stock per access point (AP) listed on the quote.
    • Please note that a "Base Station with Wireless Infrastructure" item includes 1 AP.
  • Find the customer in Admin Center
  • Click Edit Location
  • In the comments box, enter the computer Service Tag, ESC, and RB Groove MACs.
    • Please label accordingly and place a space after each new line.
    • If there are multiple access points please separate each set of RB Groove MAC addresses by IP address.
  • In the Remote Access fields, enter the Teamviewer ID and password

  • Ask them to manually add the new client in AC to the CRON that calculates the clients scores on Global Center

NanoStation M5 Wireless Bridge Setup

The NanoStationM5 (NS5)is functionally similar to the NanoStation2 (NS2) but works in the 5.8GHz frequency range (802.11a) where as the NS2 works in the 2.4GHz range. Usually there are fewer nodes in the 5.8GHz range so it is implied that better stronger connections can be created using the 5.8GHz spectrum. This configuration is for creating a wireless bridge where on NS5 connects to a remote NS5 wirelessly when a wired connection cannot be used.

If you are using this setup you will be configuring 2 NS5 devices as a Pair.
