GSM Connection and Vehicle Tracking

When you receive your GSM (3G) Modules please provide to Idrive Support the number on the modules label ending with an “ F ” and tell us what Camera Serial you attached it to…

i.e. 8944501505158xxxxxxf > 0258211xxxxx

After you supply us with those numbers, we will activate the GSM and connect the devices together in our database.

After this is accomplished we need you to have the cameras sync via WiFi with the attached GSM modules one more time to establish the link in your Control Center software

  • (If Cellular Only the Camera will need to be Ignition-ed ON so the GSM can communcate to the Cellular Networks and Sync with our servers)

live data stream

5 Sec Live Look in…

(there is an approx 40 second - 2 minute delay across networks); before a response will be visible in the webpage, the videos are lower res to preserve cellular data usage

  • After this syncs… you will go to https://iris.idriveglobal.com/ and sign in with your user and password (the same one that you would at the Base Station)
  • When you sign into the Idrive tracking site and select the vehicle for live look in a connection is started with the camera via GSM

to live track a vehicle based on GSM positioning, and also request live look in…

  • Green (online ignition On)
  • Grey turned off (ignition off)
  • Clicking on the icon opens an Information box for this vehicle
-Click the LIVE text to request a Live Look In
  • When complete, the Live Look in will appear on the right side menu in the Events tab
  • When the 5 seconds Live Look in is triggered by the tracking site, it causes the camera to

save the trigger as an event that will download to the Base Station when it returns and connects via WiFi (called Telematics Event 8-30 seconds based on your selection in the Control Center)

  • When a Live Look in is requested from the iris web site, the Cameras Left LED will turn Red for the duration of the Telematics Event (software LED option) Downloading events
  • The Camera uses GSM for live look in and tracking Telematics
    • Optionally you may increase your agreement with idrive and contract for Cellular download of Panic and Shock Events as well
  • Assuming you still have an Idrive Base Station... All transfers are additionally made via WiFi after the ignition is turned off at the Access Point allowing full events to transfer
Please make sure that the cameras connect well and have good WiFi signal to get these devices paired to the cameras.
When the camera pairs correctly with the GSM device;
  • There are two LEDs in the GSM module will boot to RED RED; then establish connection at Green Red
  • LEDs are visible through the cooling fins with the cable exiting to the right

Camera LEDS (reading colors left to right)

  • Red – Green (approx. 20 seconds) – camera OS boot up time
  • Green – Green blinking slow – scan for GPS signal
  • Green – Green blinking fast – GPS signal is found, GSM connection in progress
  • Green – Green steady – all systems initiated, Live features available.
  • Green – Red (blinking slow) – hardware / connectivity issue between camera and 3G module

NOTES:

1. Live look ins are pooled per company on a 20 Live Look ins per month; afterward you will receive no access or be blocked….

a. However, each company that has active GSM devices are “bucketed together” so
if one vehicle does not get its 20 live look ins, you can draw from those in other
vehicles until your “20 live look ins X number of Devices” is used up
b. You are not limited by live tracking and can view the location of each vehicle
within a 2 minute GPS location
