D8 Repair
Verify the reported issue.
Check for physical damage to the connectors or case
Motherboard Replacement
Disassembly
- Remove the SSD Sled
 
- Remove the two top screws on the front of the D8
 
- Remove the 4 screws on the back panel
 
- Slide the Case Top back and slowly lift up
 
- Disconnect the 3 cables to the Mother Board
 
- Lift off the Top cover and set aside
 
- Disconnect the cables from the Mother Board, GPS and Cellular Modules
 
Move GPS, SIM and Cellular Module to replacement board
GPS Module
- Remove the two screws securing the module.
 
- Apply Blue Locktite to the mounting studs on the new board
 
- Insert the two screws to secure the module (do not over torque)
 
Cellular Module
- Remove the two screws securing the module.
 
- Apply Blue Locktite to the mounting studs on the new board
 
- Insert the module into the socket
 
- Insert the two screws to secure the module (do not over torque)
 
SIM Card
- Push the button to the right of the SIM socket.
 
- Remove the SIM and insert it into the socket on the new Mother Board
 
- Record the last 4 digits of the SIM Card
 
Remove and Replace the Motherboard
- Remove the 7 screws holding the board in the case
 
- Verify that the replacement board has all of the same Heat tape and foam rubber
 
- Apply Blue Locktite to the mounting studs on the case
 
- Insert the 7 screws to secure the board (do not over torque)
 
- Place the defective Board in an anti static bag. Include a note with the serial number and problem
 
Update Firmware
- Connect the cables from the back Panel to the Board, GPS and Cellular modules
 
- Connect Power, Monitor, Camera Cable, GPS and 3G antennas
 
- Insert USB Stick with the latest Firmware
 
- Power on the DVR - Firmware should update
 
- Remove the USB Stick before reboot
 
Load Configuration
- Log into the DVR (Default user:admin , Password:123
 
- Shut off the Alarm (System> Exception> Buzzer OFF)
 
- Document the new Serial Number (System> Info> Device ID)
 
- Insert the USB Stick with config file
 
- Load configuration (System> Config> Import> USB 1)
 
- DVR Will Reboot (remove the USB Stick or the firmware will update again)
 
Verify that GPS and Cellular are working
- Log into the DVR (user:ADMIN , Password:IDRD8)(Config file changed this)
 
- After a minute or so you should see green bars for the cellular connection and solid red (not flashing)GPS indication
 
- If everything is working power off the DVR for reassembly
 
Reassembly
- Connect the 3 cables from the Case Top
 
- Slide the Case Top into the Front Panel
 
- Replace the 2 Screws on the front using Blue Locktite (Do not Over torque or cross thread)
 
- Replace the 4 Screws in the back panel using Blue Locktite (Do not Over torque or cross thread)
 
SSD Sled
- Verify the screws on the back connector are tight
 
- Open the Sled and verify the screws are all tight (have seen some loose ones)
 
- Replace the sled cover with the 6 screws
 
Final Testing
- Insert the SSD Sled and Power on the DVR
 
- Reformat the SSD (Floppy Icon > Format next to the SSD
 
- Verify each channel has video
 
- Close the front cover and verify that the DVR is recording.
 
Document and return to Stock
- Write the serial number and last 4 digits of the SIM number on a post-it and tape to the top of the DVR
 
- In Admin Center add the DVR (Manufacturing> D4-DVR Production> ADD> Serial Number & Item: IDRDVRD8HD
 
- In PodSystems Change the Name of the SIM to IDR Spare xxx where xxx is the last 3 digits of the SIM
 
- Get this information to Mark so he can update his spreadsheet

Configure for customer

- Create label with serial number, vehicle name and SIM number. Affix label to the D8 and tape second label to the top for shipping.
 
- Change the SIM name in podsystem.
 
- Assign D8 to the customer and location.
